Diverticula are little pouches in the wall of the colon. They occur when the inner layer of the digestive tract bulges through weak spots in the outer layer. Diverticulitis is inflammation of diverticula. Diverticulitis occurs when one or more of these pouches becomes inflamed or infected. Some people with diverticulosis become aware of the condition only when acute diverticulitis occurs.

In severe cases, one or more of the pouches can perforate, which can cause bacteria to spill into the abdominal cavity. This is a true emergency that must be treated right away.
Dog bites affect millions of Americans every year. They can become infected if not treated appropriately, however, they are less likely to become infected than cat bites. Bites by large dog can cause significant injuries to nerves, blood vessels, tendons, joints and/or bones. If you are bitten, quickly and carefully clean the wound throughout with soap and a large amount of water to help prevent infection. If there is bleeding, a clean towel or gauze should be pressed to the wound to slow or stop the bleeding. You may need tetanus immunizations, rabies immunization, and antibiotics.

Dorsal wrist impingement syndrome occurs when the nerves and muscles in the wrist get trapped between the bones. It is typically seen in athletes such as gymnasts that repetitively extend and straighten their wrists, which puts too much pressure and stress on the joints within. Numbness and pain in the wrist and fingers are the most common symptoms. If you have numbness and pain to the wrist and fingers and you are an athlete, then you may have Dorsal Wrist Impingement Syndrome.
